Early this week, my husband and I were invited to a springtime dinner party. Before the party I phoned my friend, Sue, up and asked if I should bring anything. She, as always, declined but I wanted to bring something for a gift. Two days before the party I was sitting in my pjs browsing the web when I realized I almost forgot the hostess gift!
I had a pretty busy week catering to a couple luncheons and a dinner that I didn’t have time to pick something up. I had already decided flower centerpieces were a good choice to bring. My old standbys as hostess gifts were peony bouquets and rose bouquets but I wanted to go with something a little different this time. My circle of friends had seen these flower choices tons of times!
I had to decide between the gerbera daisy bouquet in a jar vase or a calla lilies bouquet in a pretty cylinder vase. I decided on the calla lilies this time. Maybe next time i will go with the gerbera daisies. I went with the fresh flower arrangement from Martha Stewart Flowers again because I had been happy with my Easter Lilies.
Sue loved her gift! She placed the calla lily bouquet in the center of the supper table and everyone enjoyed the flowers while we sipped on mojitos and beer. The dinner was excellent as always. Sue served a spring salad, easter ham, and for dessert, a yummy carrot cake to die for! My husband and I really enjoyed the fun evening. I’m glad that my week ended well and my bouquet came through for me.
